“ A gem. Attentive service with great wine suggestions. I don't speak French and that wasn't a problem. About the dishes, a separate chapter. Fresh oysters with a delicious sauce and the best tuna I've ever had in my life. Oh, and the street where it's located is incredible, worth the trip. Thanks for the experience ”
“ A scruffy street with varied graffiti is set off by varied scooters and a random set of tables by an unpretentious frontage. Outside is fun and more open if it is warm enough. The wine recommendation was good and an amuse bouche of goats cheese with herbs was great - a perfect accompaniment to the ultra rustic bread which was v moreish.. The menu is small but each dish was wonderful. The mackerel starter was slightly charred but delicately undercooked at once. Our party raved about the pigeon and beef mains. The tuna was seared and yet very rich. To say it was unhurried would be an understatement- perfect on a warmer evening. I would very happily return. ”
“ Absolutely stunning food and wine! We were recommended by a friend and it didn't disappoint, our favourite meal in Paris, poached oysters and Pollock were incredible. Service was lovely too and v.accomadating to our poor french. Will be recommending and coming back next time we're in Paris. Quality of food very good for the price and impressive wine knowledge/recommendations from staff. ”
“ Quality, presentation, flavors, and venue are all spot on. The chef/owner/one man crew is creating outstanding food. Natural wines to enjoy with a locally sourced menu. Highly recommend a reservation. ”
“ Nicely situated on the artistic street of Belleville, this cozy spot offers well-presented, seasonal dishes. The food is both flavorful and a great value for money . The wine selection is solid, and there’s a pleasant outdoor terrace where you can enjoy your meal and drinks. ”
“ Off the beaten path recommendation from some friends who frequent Paris and this place hit the mark! It’s a small restaurant / wine bar with a cozy but minimalist interior that makes for a warm ambience. Our service was incredible. We don’t speak French but that did not stop the servers and even other patrons from helping us choose our meals which were absolutely delicious. We had some delicious natural wine chosen for us and overall had an amazing evening at Le Pinceau. Definitely a hidden gem that is doing all the right things and it seems they want to keep it that way!! ”
“ Two of us went on Belleville market day, Tuesday afternoon. Most of the very limited seating was taken. Service was attentive. We had an oyster starter. Fresh and delicious with a sweet paprika sauce. For the mains we had a tuna dish, cooked perfectly, generous portion, and a roast chicken breast and rolled thigh that was delicious. Nothing fussy or pretentious. Straightforward fare that honored the ingredients. Wine was a natural white that was delicious, perfect with our meal and full of character, without the 'well that was interesting, but tasted weird' aspect of too many natural wines. Highest recommendation if you are in the area, and why wouldn't you be? ”
“ A raw gem in the heart of Belleville // This hidden spot is where everything just makes sense. Belleville is raw and honest, and this place reflects that perfectly. The chef – who also runs the service – works in seamless harmony with his buddy. Everything is homemade with care and intention. The oysters are top-notch, the natural wines thoughtfully selected, and the price-quality ratio is unbeatable. And the dessert? Strawberries, hazelnuts, and cream – so simple, yet unbelievably delicious. A place worth going out of your way for! ”
